ZUMBA

Exercise in disguise. Zumba is a total workout, combining all elements of fitness: cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, flexibility, coordination, and calorie-burning, while making you feel like you were at an exciting Dance Party! Based on Latin and International rhythms, the music will fire up your inner Diva making you want to shimmy and shake what your Mama gave you! You are guaranteed to experience boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each class.

One of the most common responses I get when I tell someone they should come try a Zumba class is: "Oh, I can't do Zumba; I'm not coordinated." My reply to that is: "That's exactly why you should try Zumba!" Zumba is not just about the physical aspect (getting your cardio workout in), it's also (and mostly) about training your brain to process the visual cues that I give throughout each song/exercise and coordinate your movements with them. Experts will tell you that the mental workout you get from dancing is just as important as the physical. And the benefits are just as powerful: reduce stress and anxiety, increase levels of the feel-good hormone (serotonin), develop new neural connections, promote mind/body coordination, etc. Remember - coordination is a learned skill, which means the more you work at it, the better you get at it.

NO prior experience or dance is required. Zumba is perfect for every fitness level! That's the great thing about Zumba; it meets you where you are at and lets YOU decide how much you can do and how far you want to push in each exercise. It's about progress and each person is on a different journey. In my Zumba classes, we support and encourage each other in an inclusive and judgment free environment.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR

  • Be ready to bend, move, shimmy and shake! Casual athletic, yoga, or dance wear is studio appropriate. Be prepared to sweat!

  • Bring clean, supportive indoor running shoes for in studio classes.

WHAT DO I NEED

  • Yourself and a smile.

  • A towel and WATER - lots of it!
